Signed book: Of Flight and Life. First edition. NY: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1948. Hardcover with dust jacket, 5.25 x 7.5, 56 pages. and inscribed on the half title page in black ink, "To Francis and Katherine Drake, with best wishes from, Charles A. Lindbergh, August 1948". In fine condition. Accompanied by a letter of provenance from the consignor, in part: "This book, "Of Flight and Life" by Charles A. Lindbergh, was signed and gifted by Mr. Lindbergh to his friend Francis Vivian Drake and his wife Katherine, in August of 1948. As a writer himself, and former teacher of air fighting techniques and aerodynamics, Lindbergh and Drake had become close friends… Francis Drake died in 1971 at his home in Stonington, CT. Prior to Mr. Drake's wife Katherine's passing in 1977, she had gifted the book to her close friend Henrietta Mello, also of Stonington, CT. Upon her death in 1990, Henrietta passed the book along to her daughter Henrietta (Mello) Mayer. Henrietta Mayer graciously gifted the book to me… in 2019."
