Autograph letter from Erte, the Russian-French artist and designer, unsigned, one page, 5.75 x 8.25, personal letterhead, no date. Addressed to Axel Thores, the handwritten letter reads: “Enclosed the dedication for Mr. Baumgastel and the cover for Playboy. I am looking forward to see the story in the Esquire and shall be happy if you would kindly send me two copies of it.” Erte switches from blue to black ballpoint near the end of the letter. In very fine condition. Accompanied by the original hand-addressed mailing envelope. In 1987, a couple years before dying, Erte designed the cover for the special anniversary issue of Playboy Magazine. Erte handwritten letters are uncommon, this being our first in 12 years.
