ALS signed “Yr. affec. father, W. H. Harrison,” one page both sides, 7.75 x 8.25, October 11, 1825. Handwritten letter to his son, William, in part: "I have not heard a word from Ohio since I left it, but it is probable I may find letters from Home at New York. I have been detained here longer than I expected but shall set out on Monday. I left my sword at your house if you have not already done it send it by the first person you can meet with going to New York to be delivered to Mr. Henry Ogden Merchant New York. I wish you would inform Mr. Spence that his son will receive his appointment as surgeon mate in a day or two or rather an order for his examination…L[e]t me know the result of all the Elections in Kingsboro as soon as you can get them. Give my love to Jane…& kiss the little fellow for me." In very good to fine condition, with trimmed edges and some restorations to paper loss. Encapsulated in a PSA/DNA authentication holder.
William Henry Harrison Jr. (1802–1838) studied law in Cincinnati and married Jane Findlay. The couple had one child, James, in 1825. Unfortunately, Harrison Jr. struggled with alcoholism and died at the age of 35.
